Boromir Bull Terriers ~ New Zealand
Putting this page together has been an interesting exercise. Due to living in a country with a tiny Bull Terrier population our imports play a major part in our breeding program... when everything goes right with them! We've looked around the world for animals that come from quality lines - proof of course is in what those lines have produced in terms of health, temperament and resemblance to the breed standard. A lot of study, travel, time and money has gone into getting these guys here. So far we have been involved in importing 17 Bull Terriers to New Zealand and not all of them made the grade in regard to joining the gene pool. Check out the resumes included here and decide if you think these ones were worth it or not. Updated to say now that we can import semen we have not imported dogs for a long while.
Sledge was bred in Australia by Robert & Debbie Pirika. We got him as a huge, sleepy four month old pup. Sledge was successful as a family pet, at stud, in the show ring and was in the first wave of NZ dogs scanned clear for polycystic kidney disease. Read more about health testing on the 'health' page. Sledge helped put us on the map so to speak, and can be found in the extended pedigree of many New Zealand (and international) Bull Terriers. He lived out his life with us and has his own page here. Imported from the UK, Thor was our first long-haul import. We saw him as a three week old pup at Kilacaber kennels when we were looking for a Rolling Thunder son, and put our order in. Not a big winning show dog, but a bomb proof personality and a very valuable addition to our breeding program. Thor continued on to Queenland at Lance & Gayle Stephenson's Satori kennels, where he was a prolific sire. Sire: Eng Ch Kilacabar Rolling Thunder Dam: Flash Pirate 1996 ~ Best coloured dog of the year ~ ABTC point-score Progeny of note: BISS Ch Boromir Body Paint ROM,

Imported with Mel Dalton from Pinewood Kennels in the South Island, from Tracy Schick in Australia at around 18 months. He had been used at stud before he came over. Boss eventually retired with Greg & Corrine Powell at Samara. He was a particularly placid and unnassuming dog and therefore very easy to have around. This trait repeated itself in his grand daughter Body Paint. Sire: Shirvin Master Ruler Dam: Shirvin Diamond Magic 1998 ~ Best in show ~ David Harris, Brummagem, USA. Brie was our second long-distance import - this time all the way from Espen Thygesen in Norway. Whereas Sledge had been a sedate four month old - this one was full of beans and earned herself the nickname 'the Nutty Norwegian'. Another success story for us with her achievements in the ring and whelping box. When Lilli died, Brie spent two weeks looking for her before assuming the mantle of 'uber bitch' and house dog. Brie spent her life with us and has her own page here. Sire: Ch Quest Giancana Dam: Ch Quest Silmarillion Sue 1997 ~ Bitch CC, reserve best in show ~ Brian Hill, Arcanum, UK. Enzo was our second import from Espen Thygesen in Norway. He was bought jointly with Jeanne Dusseau of Bijou Bull Terriers in Hawaii and Michele Crowe of Harlequin Kennels. A shattered hip stopped him from achieving his NZ championship title but he has excelled at stud. He moved to Amatol Kennels in Australia where Paul and Kathy have also made use of him in their breeding program. Sire: Ch Quest Giancana Dam: Quest Pistolette 2005 ~ Stud dog of the year ~ NIBTC

Sire: Tungsten Trooper Dam: Kupala Klaim to Fame Progeny of note: Ch Boromir Shadow Sorcerer and Ch Boromir Practical Magic. |

"Aggie' was our last Norwegian import, she came out in partnership with Linda Flegg of Vortex Kennels. She was in whelp and we were graced with seven pups, one that we kept and another we have used at stud. Her second litter produced a stunning male that unfortunately died tragically as a youngster. She has her own page here. Sire: Quest Elmshorn Dam: Quest Odalisque 2008 ~ Reserve best bitch ~ Diane Riley (OKeefe), NZ. Lennox came over from Australia from Leon and Karen Mayall of Bullamakanka as a mature stud and show dog. Unfortunately his fertility took a dive and we did not get any pups by him. But we had a lot of fun showing this outgoing boy. He is now living with Carla & Spencer and enjoying life as a pet with their children. Sire: Dam: Ch Bullamakanka Jackpot ROM Rudyard Inspiration (Imp UK) 2007 ~ Best dog, best white dog, best open ~ NIBTC Point-score |
Bred by Kerry King at Brasshead Kennels in Australia, Java was the result of a combined effort between Kerry and myself in order for us to use semen from a particular stud dog who we felt had virtues needed in our program.
